Al-Ittihad Aleppo
Al-Ittihad of Aleppo (Arabic: الاتحاد حلب) is a Syrian football club based in Aleppo. It was founded in 1949 and recognized officially by the government in 1953. They mostly play at the Al-Hamadaniah Stadium and sometimes at the Aleppo International Stadium, although the club owns its private Al-Ittihad Stadium which has a capacity of 10,000 spectators.
The club was founded on 20 July 1949 under the name Aleppo Al-Ahli Club, by the merge of three small football teams in Aleppo: Al-Janah (The Wing), Osud Al-Shahba (Lions of Shahba) and Al-Nejmeh (The Star), before getting recognized officially by the ministry of internal affairs on 25 January 1953. In 1972, the name of the club was changed into Al-Ittihad by the decision of the Syrian government.
Al-Ittihad is among the most popular clubs in Syria and the Middle East. 20 types of sports are being practiced by the club.
